MT. kang Guru Expedition

MT. kang Guru Expedition

(33 NIGHTS/ 34 DAYS )

overview

Mt. Kang Guru (6,981m / 22,904ft.) is a known six-thousander in the Manang section of the Gandaki mountain region in Nepal. In the Larkya sub-range, the Mt. Kang Guru is the highest of the mountains, and in its northwest is the Mansiri Himal region. The Kang Guru also falls on the northeast region of the Annapurna Himalayan ranges. It is a fascinating mountain with a unforgettable adventure to offer, however, a 2005 avalanche accident killed an entire team of climbers and this has significantly reduced tourist visits. The first successful Mount Kang Guru expedition was made by a Japanese Expedition team.

The steep climb and ice-slopes makes it difficult to summit the Kang Guru easily. The trek begins at Besisahar and ends at the same village on the way back from the expedition. There are several traditional villages following the Tibetan culture, on the way to the base camp. Trekkers can stop and rest at teahouses and prepare to resume the trek on the same route that leads to the Annapurna circuit. The views even from the base camp are panoramic and outstanding. The Mt. Kang Guru (6,981m) expedition is extremely difficult, but it is worth the efforts.
