Standing high at an altitude of 8,848m above sea level, Mount Everest is the Earth’s highest mountain above sea level. Mount Everest is located in the Mahalangur Himal range of the Himalayas. Every year Mount Everest Expedition attracts thousands of highly experienced mountaineers.
Despite being the highest mountain on earth, the Himalayan ranges of Mount Everest are relatively younger than other mountains such as the Rockies, Andes and the Alps.
Expedition Route and Duration
The second half of May is regarded as the best season for climbing Mount Everest. In order for a successful climb to the top of Everest, several months of beforehand preparation is required. Teams preparing for Mount Everest Expedition assemble in Kathmandu in late March for self-acclimatization. The basecamp support staff and high-altitude workers reach the mountain beforehand as mountaineers trek towards basecamp. The porters carry loads and prepare the route to the summit for the ease of trekkers.
Gradually, the mountaineers climb Mount Everest successively to higher camps up the mountain to acclimatize. During this period, the first teams of Nepalese guides reach the summit. By the second week of Mount Everest Expedition, teams hope to have covered several miles covering from basecamp to the summit.
Best Time to Climb Mount Everest?
For an experienced climber, any month round the year can be a suitable time to climb, however, the friendliest duration for climbing is from April to June. On the other hand, May is the warmest month in the Everest Region and can deprive visitors of experiencing the best scenes. Actually, it is almost impossible to predict the weather in higher altitudes so it’s best to accent during the recommended season. So, we organize Everest Expedition between April to May so that all climbers enjoy their trip and return back safely.
Everest Climbing Duration?
Climbing to the top of the highest mountain on earth is not a calm task. Being an extreme and challenging trek, acclimatization in the base camp can last up to 40days. During this period, the Sherpas especially take care of mountaineers considering their food, lack of oxygen, etc. As the climbers are ready to move forward, usually 50th day is a summit day which is also the most exciting as well as challenging part of the accent. The expedition starting from Kathmandu to the top of Mount Everest takes about 58 days.
