The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) is the national mountaineering association of Nepal. This association was founded in the year 1973 with its main objectives aiming to promote the mountaineering activities in the Himalayan region, to safeguard the interest and to upgrade the professional and mountaineering skill of Nepalese mountaineers, to popularize mountaineering activities among Nepalese students and youths, to create awareness both in national and international level to preserve the beauty of Himalayan region for future generations. In order to provide as far as information of the visiting places in Nepal, here below you will get entire information of the distance between two cities you may travel and would love to calculate timing accordingly. The following info in table has indicated distance with its KM & Hrs however Nepal`s geography does not allow speed drive because of its hilly drives. The road between Kathmandu to Pokhara is one of most traffic river side drive which takes min 5 hrs by Car & 7 hrs by Bus. The most difficult roads are from Kathmandu to Dhunche –Sybrubeshi which is the gateway of Langtang/ Goshainkunda trekking in Nepal. Most of the roads are really scenic such as Kathmandu to Jiri and Kathmandu to Pokhara including Dhunche.

It is still suggest to book your private Jeep / Car to Dhunche etc roads when Kathmandu/ Pokhara & Royal Chitwan National Park can be travelled by Luxury tourist buses. (more…)

Many helicopter companies can provide evacuation by Helicopter for severely injured or ill people. However, someone in Kathmandu must guarantee the payment of the flight before the rescue. Average rescue flight costs about $ 6000.00. If you are trekking with a Kathmandu based trekking agency, send rescue request to them and they will arrange the flight. If you are trekking on you own, send the message to your embassy or consulates.

Nepal is the country of extremes.  Weather and climate of Nepal varies with its topography and altitude. It ranges from Tropical to Arctic. The low-land plains of the Terai can have tropical temperatures and the Himalayas can get to zero temperatures. The Terai region, which lies in the tropical southern part of the country, has a hot and humid climate. The hill, mid-hills and particularly the Kathmandu valleys are pleasant with warm summers and cool winters almost all the year round. The northern mountain region, around an altitude above 3300 m has an Alpine climate with a considerably lower temperature in winter as can be expected but the sun can blaze during the day, even in the mountains.

The yeti “Man of the rocky places” has been a staple of Sherpa and Tibetan folklore for centuries, but stories of hairy, ape-like creatures roaming the snowy heights first came to the attention of the outside world during the early days of   British rule in India. Explorers in Tibet reported seeing mysterious moving figures and large, unidentified footprints in the snow – captivated by the reports, an imaginative Fleet Street hack coined the term “Abominable snowman” – but it wasn’t until 1951, during the first British Everest expedition from the Nepal side, that climber Eric Shipton took clear photographs of yeti tracks. Since then, several highly publicized yeti-hunts, including one led by Sir Edmund Hillary in 1960, have   brought back a wealth of circumstantial evidence but not one authenticated sighting. (more…)
