The meaning of Arati is a kind of special presented pray which shown by oil lamp before start the program that called “Arati” in Hinduism. Once upon a time of golden age, this dance is dedicated to “Nataraj” the dancing form of Lord Shiva. According to the Hindu’s Philosophy [Shiva Puran], the meaning of Nataraj is period of dancing by Lord God “SHIVA”; Therefore in Hindu’s Culture Society, people want to present first Ariti with the dance of Natraj before start the program. In this dance light will be put off and dancer will come with candle light in their hand. This is very interesting dance. This is also called a tandav dance.

Malla dynasty of Nepal want to keep there country in a very strong position always and they do confidence by them self to worship Goddess “Bajrayyogani” for to get the strong power and protected the peoples and the nation. The meaning of Bajra is Thunderbolt and Yogani means Yogi became BAJRAYOGANI. So, Buddhist Tantrick (the devoted of malla period) they were dance with a appearing of Bajrayogani to make happy her in an occasion of festival, gradually this became an ancient classical dance of Nepal, which is based on Tantric Buddhism. The Bajrayogini dance depicts a blend of emotion, which contract with each other. The dancer experience movements of peace and moments of anger, which again alternates with feeling of joy, sorrow, defense and aggression. Still the Temple of Goddess Bajrayogini is situated about 3 Km from Kathmandu valley.

This religious dance is performed to ward off the evil spirits which attack men and women. Bhagata is a man who sings and dance under the influence of some deities. He is supposed to help getting rid of ghosts and spirits. A group of Bhagata performs this dance to worship Kali and Sokha, famous local deities of Nepal Terai. They are clan deities of certain castes and creeds.

Bhairab is known as the Lord of Universe. Whereas, Kali is regarded as the mother of the universe and Bhairab’s consort. This dance is the symbol of the ecstasy of the two deities. Bhairab is portrayed as blue in color with four hands and Kali is navy blue in color with eight hands. They are the protectors of “yen” the old city of Kathmandu formed in the shape of Khadga, a sacred weapon of these deities. “ I am hopeful that this can be taken as a profession but what requires is a dedication. I have rendered my seven years in learning this great art of dancing.

The meaning of Bhairab is appearing with very angry and aggressive of Lord Shiva and Kali means is papering with very angry and aggressive of Goddess Parvati [Devi] wife of Lord God Shiva. (more…)

Each Charya Nritya features a different Tantric deity of Vajrayana Buddhism and the dancer himself becomes an embodiment of the particular deity.
